I have to admit that I have a bit of a thing for all the lovely designs produced by Tilda Fabric… so I was very pleased to be given a big stash of Tilda fat quarters for Christmas. I’ve made an elegant pair of flat hexagonal shades using this sweet bird print in two different colourways, trimmed with gorgeous linen ricrac. These will be for sale in one of our shops at £55 each.
Remember the story of those four drab old lampshades that the Kookolki ladies were commissioned to liven up (see our post from Nov. 11th 2014)? Well, the second pair have now been completed. The customer decided she wanted some floral fabric as part of the design, which we contrasted with white on white embroidery and some ever so smart navy trim. The floral design is a beautiful piece of original 1930’s fabric bought from Donna Flower Vintage Fabrics. We think they look pretty funky now!
This customer had a piece of curtain fabric leftover and decided to commission three gorgeous lampshades to match a newly decorated living room. We used two of her old lampshades to recover, which makes this a very pretty bit of recycling!
This rainy November weather is a great encouragement to stay at home and make lampshades. Here are photographs of our latest creations, these will all be taken to the Vintage & Handmade Fair in Chipping Sodbury on the 13th December.
Here is a lovely story about four sad, drab, weary old lampshades. After inheriting them, their owner decided to give them a new lease of life and who better to do that than the Kookolki ladies. We’ve been commissioned to brighten them up as two pairs, to go with a set of lamps that they originally belonged to. The first pair are complete and look really quite fabulous! We’ll post a photograph of the second pair once they are transformed.
The lampshades have been flying off the Kookolki making table over the last few weeks! We’ve been making lots of beautiful lampshades in preparation for the Vintage and Makers Fair in South Molton which was on Saturday 20th September. Here are some photographs of our new stock…some of which have now sold after a successful fair…but the rest will be available to buy either at Furniture Magpie (Barnstaple) or the Vintage Emporium (Ashburton).
We have been very busy getting stock ready to be sold at The Vintage Emporium in the lovely town of Ashburton in South Devon. We will also have reconditioned wooden lamp bases for sale, painted in gorgeous Earthborn claypaint, with new brass fittings and colourful flex. Do call in if you are in the area and see our shades and all the other delightful things for sale!
